Major Automotive Parts Supplier Announces $54 Million Expansion Project in Madison County

Toyota Boshoku Tennessee, LLC (TBTN) announced Thursday that it will invest $54.4 million to expand manufacturing operations at its metal stamping facility in Jackson.

TBTN’s expansion project – which will add 87,000 square feet to its existing Jackson facility – will “allow the company to consolidate its stamping operations to become a lower arm seat supplier while also supporting Toyota Boshoku America’s subsidiary locations,” according to a press release by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD).

“This marks another significant milestone for our company. This expansion will allow us to increase manufacturing for our high-quality metal seat frame components and will strengthen the local economy in adding new jobs. We are proud to be an employer of choice in Jackson,” Masami Ito, president of TBTN, said.

The project is expected to create 80 new jobs in Madison County, bringing the total number of Tennesseans employed by the company to more than 900, according to TNECD.

TBTN is one of the largest employers in Jackson, according to data compiled by the Jackson Chamber.

“Team Madison County (City of Jackson, Madison County, Jackson Energy Authority and Greater Jackson Chamber) has worked with this company since it opened in Jackson, and we are grateful for the investment the company continues to make in its team members and in this community,” Mandy White, Greater Jackson Chamber chief economic development officer said in a statement. “This expansion is possible because of the positive business environment and talented workforce this area provides.”

TNECD Commissioner Stuart McWhorter added that the company’s expansion project “underscores that Jackson and Madison County have the right assets in place to continue facilitating TBTN’s growth and success.”

TBTN is one of Toyota Boshoku America’s subsidiary operations specializing in metal stamping for the automotive industry.

The referenced statement does not include what it cost Tennessee taxpayers in tax abatements and/or direct dollar contributions. Maybe that information will be disclosed in the future when this announcement is completely forgotten. Lee sure has a way of spending taxpayer dollars.
